About Us
Linda Riak is the owner of Levana Therapeutic Massage. She has dedicated her professional life to helping others. Her undergraduate experience of student teaching in an elementary school led to an interest in occupational therapy. As a pediatric occupational therapist, Linda worked in a variety of settings including the New York City Public Schools, Franciscan Children’s Hospital in Brighton, MA, and home based early intervention in both New York City and Boston. She took many years off from working as an occupational therapist to focus on her three young boys. In her frequent search for complimentary and alternative medicine for her family, Linda came across the many benefits of therapeutic massage for all ages. Becoming a licensed massage therapist compliments her occupational therapy education and experience. At Cortiva Institute, Linda was trained in many modalities including Swedish, myofascial, deep tissue, neuromuscular and sports massage. In order to have the ability to work with all age groups, she has completed course work to become a Certified Pediatric Massage Therapist (CPMT), and a Certified Infant Massage Teacher (CIMT). During the winter of 2012, Linda participated in an internship at Boston Medical Center for Oncology Massage. This area of massage has special meaning to Linda because she has a few close friends who are survivors and has also lost a close friend and family members to cancer. Due to her love of anatomy and physiology, she decided to receive training to become a Certified Orthopedic Massage Therapist (OMT). She is also a provider of the Graston Technique® which further enhances her ability to evaluate and treat the musculoskeletal system. In the spring of 2014 she became a Certified Lymphedema Therapist which includes manual lymphatic drainage and all aspects of bandaging and using compression garments. Although not a primary modality, Linda became a Reiki Master in June, 2014. She is able to use her Reiki skills to enhance any massage. In March 2016 Linda completed her level 2 training of Fascial Manipulation © with Dr. Antonio Stecco. She is passionate about using hands on techniques to guide the body to heal itself. Linda is able to tailor every massage to meet the individual needs of each client.
